been really excited about wimbledon lately, and have been religiously watching at least one or two matches every night. i have to say, i will be deeply disappointed if federer wins. please god, let someone else win. anyone but federer.

i've always been a huge
andy roddick fan, and am definitely rooting for him. but i cant help getting caught up in cheering on lleyton hewitt. i thought he was a goner yesterday, when he played stepanek. he was two sets down, and i thought no way. i could barely bring myself to keep watching, and then he sort of just picked himself up, brushed himself off, and breezed through the next 3 sets ! i am totally a hewitt fan now. but i think he's set to play roddick next, and that would seriously suck. it really annoys me the way stepanek always takes 4 balls from the ballboys and then discards two immediately. i mean, what? just take two then! its so annoying.

i have to say, the chinese dude who played federer on day1 seemed pretty good, think he coulda maybe gone pretty far if he had played someone else. and im really crushed tsonga got ousted by karlovic, it was so close too! i love watching tsonga play. i am beginning to think i might feel really lost once wimbledon is over.

i think i've just read one of the most awesome novels ever, and that's saying something, given the rather astonishing amount i read. the book of lost things, by john connolly. i cant summarise the story, wouldnt do it any justice at all. its so moving on a whole other level, and just vastly different from a lot of other stuff i've read.

even the little note at the beginning of the book has a depth of meaning to it that made me just know this book was gonna be awesome:

An imaginative tribute to the journey we must all make through the loss of innocence into adulthood, ... a book for every adult who can recall the moment when childhood began to fade, and for every child about to face that moment.

before you dismiss this, no, it is not a kid's book about barbie-ish magic. i think an adult would appreciate this a whole lot more. everything about it is so poignantly moving, and seems to make so much sense. when i first began reading this, i immediately felt like it was a cross between the movie pan's labyrinth, and mark haddon's novel the curious incident of the dog in the night time (written from the point of view of an autistic boy, also a good read).

anyway, im aware of how geeky this makes me sound but i swear to god, one of the most awesome reads ever. the best books are always the ones where everything makes sense in the end, and you get that good feeling in your gut even though it wasnt the classic happy-ending. this is totally that book.

its officially the holidays! finally i have time to blog, and breathe. anyway a very happy belated 21st birthday to all the people i didnt or couldnt wish. im sorry! u must know how much i wish i could attend all your parties!

but well, how time flies. i've been here half a year or so and i gotta say i've never made a better decision in my entire life. i just think of myself stuck in singapore with noise pollution and kaisu-ness all around me and i feel suffocated. i also feel like i know who my friends really are after i left, and im glad to have a chance to sort of have another life and leave everything crappy behind. sometimes its like i dont exist in singapore anymore, it makes me feel like there's no point coming home.

but whatever, i dont do all that emo rubbish anymore. so my housemate jane and her boyfriend phillip and i had a little weekend trip to de-stress and it was so so awesome. we took lou (who is 4kg now) and fat, to sunshine coast. we went to mooloolaba where its all beaches and like this tiny seaside getaway. and then drove to mapleton in melaney which is my fav fav place! its so quaint! everything about it is so english. the cobblestones, the buildings. loved it.

Photobucket
so we popped lou in his box in the car and off we went...

Photobucket
got there two hours or so later, and the stupid fatty wouldnt walk so we had to pop him into a bag and carry him like paris hilton, you know how much i cant stand that!

Photobucket
so we're at mooloolaba (i do hope im spelling it right)

Photobucket
andd we climbed down to some sand dunes or whatever they're called. it was low tide.

Photobucket
thats jane and me and lou

Photobucket
i bet they could frame this little family picture. haha.

Photobucket
we tried to trim lou's fur but its like rapunzel or smth, its always so fluffy!

Photobucket
i just thought this was a real nice moment and got phil to take it. he was the photgrapher of the day

Photobucket
i think this picture is so homey.

Photobucket
aand after a nice walk, some lunch and juice...

Photobucket
... its mapleton!

Photobucket
thats me walking there, in case u didnt spot me

Photobucket

Photobucket
stuffing the fatty into the bag (which we just bought cos it looks cooler than the green bag) cause he wouldnt walk anymore. sigh.

Photobucket

Photobucket
argh! ugly moments aplenty even in aus.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
how cute is everything eh?

Photobucket
doesnt lou's head sticking out make it look like a bag with a fake doggy head attached?

Photobucket
im saying let's go! cause phil is taking his own sweet time

Photobucket
we're searching for jane's fav pie shop that she claims has the bestest best pies in the world...

Photobucket
... which was closed dammit.

Photobucket
so we had dinner at this really nice cafe with a view of like, everything.

Photobucket

Photobucket

anddd horseback riding soon i hope! i love mucking about in the countryside. i have to say the getting there is almost better than getting there. the view is awesome, little sheep and cows and horses all over the place. aughh. how fun is that! and the lakes and mountains all shining in the sun.. -sighing dreamily- why does everywhere else seem way way better than singapore. well, its lucky we managed the trip before this cold spell hit. its winter. and 7 friggin degrees out. where did autumn go? seems like just yesterday i was complaining about summer. its the global warming, i swear the world is ending. its not like china cold, but its still cold !

I just saw this german movie. yep german. and its so so awesome. i missed the beginning of the movie but i think it all plays out so well. and its super emo. its called Der Krieger und die Kaiserin and translates into the princess and the warrior, which is kind of not very catchy at all. it stars franka potente from the bourne movies, and benno furrman. but what really caught my attention was the ending song to the closing credits. its by Pale 3 featuring Skin, but is sung by Skunk Anansie. its so emo and yes i know! im eccentric! includes clips from the movie.
